Dennis lives in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He served three terms in the Maine State Legislature serving on the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. He also served for as the Belgrade Town Manager for many years. His environmental background includes working in the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as the Director of the Bureau of Air Quality Control and as the Director of the Division of Operations and Maintenance in the Bureau of Water Quality. He also was the President of the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) in 1988 and the Chair of the New England Commission for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM) in 1994. He also served as the Executive Director for the Maine Public Utilities Commission for over 10 years. Dennis is a veteran with 31 years of service in the U.S. Army and the Maine Air National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine and the 7 Lakes Alliance, and a member of a number of associations including the Belgrade Lakes Association, Ducks Unlimited, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reserve Officers Association, the National Rifle Association, the National Guard Association of Maine, the Belgrade Historical Society, and the Belgrade Public Library.
